If you've been following me for awhile, you know my favorite week of the year is the American Century Championship, or more commonly know as the Tahoe Celebrity, at the beautiful Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in South Lake Tahoe, NV. South Lake Tahoe is undeniably my favorite place on earth. The slogan for Lake Tahoe is "Keep Tahoe Blue," so just imagine how gorgeous and blue this massive lake is, surrounded by the Sierra Nevada mountains which reflect off the water. Not only is it stunning, but it hosts one of my favorite tournaments every year, the American Century Championship, which never disappoints. It's an event filled with former and current professional athletes from all sports, tv and movie stars, musicians and singers, and famous personalities. Charles Barkley, who is a seasoned regular of the Tahoe Celebrity, even said it's the first thing he puts on his schedule when planning out the upcoming year. Another person who now puts the event on her schedule is golfer and model Blair O'Neal. I had the pleasure of interviewing her at Edgewood which was live on @womenwithdrive Instagram page. Watch below!
This year, the event will be held July 11th-16th and I have the pleasure of playing in the Tuesday Celeb-Am event as one of Edgewood's guests. I absolutely adore, admire, and respect the entire Edgewood staff as I've made close relationships with them over the years. This year will also be special as their on site lodge is opening just weeks before the event. The lodge will change EVERYTHING.
The lodge sits lakeside, along the newly designed 9th hole which now brings a picturesque view of the lake, where the parking lot once was. The old parking lot was infamously known as the prettiest parking lot in the US, but also the most expensive. Now there are rooms that enjoy the same view the parking lot once had, not to mention the pool and outdoor patio areas.
The best part about the lodge though is its incredible design and decor. Not one inch was left untouched, and everything was taken into grand detail, down to the stairs. The grand room is just that, with a large vaulted ceiling, showstopping chairs and couches, neutral colors with pops of lake blue, beautiful faux deer and antlers strung high on the walls, and of course, the lakeside view out of the two story high window. Walking up the stairs you'll notice the walls are made of carved tiles meant to resemble wood, unlike anything you've ever seen before.
There are a multitude of amazing amenities like board rooms, a world class restaurant, and even an open library at the top of the staircase. One of the best features though, is the co-ed spa with a hot tub that is against a wide open balcony that overlooks the mountains. I could probably stay in that room all day. But of course, I wouldn't because the Lake and golf course are on the other side!
The golf course is amazing in it's own right, as it has been for years. The best part is the lakeview from the practice range, putting green, 9th hole, 14th hole, and 16th-18th holes. In addition to the gorgeous views, the weather is usually sunny and 75 or more. Tahoe may be snowing from November to April, but summers are always perfect.
Its no wonder why celebrities come back time and time again for the American Century Championship.
