Golf trips are the absolute best, but especially when you get to watch some really great golf! I recently attended the LPGA Kia Classic at Aviara Country Club in beautiful Carlsbad, CA and had an awesome time! Carlsbad is one of my favorite beach and golf destinations in Cali!
It was my second year at the event and it's definitely one of my favorites! Carlsbad is a dream beach town with the ocean, great Mexican food and seafood, and amazing golf courses! The golf manufacturing hub is in Carlsbad. Whoever decided to plant their roots there first was a genius!
We stayed at the Best Western Plus Beach View Lodge right next to Downtown Carlsbad. Not only was it the perfect location (right across from the beach and walking distance to the downtown Village Faire), but the amenities were awesome! I stayed in the King Suite all by myself which was HUGE- perfect desk and sitting area for getting work done or watching tv while the other wants to sleep. Definitely a great room for families or a couple. Or just yourself, like me.
Breakfast is an absolute must for me. The continental breakfast was perfect, and they had gluten free and soy options as well. Score! You can eat inside or outside, and enjoy the ocean view from both! If the continental breakfast isn't your thing, Cafe Elysa and Starbucks are just a hop, skip, and jump away!
We had a great time at the tournament! We watched so many amazing players and it was so inspiring to work on my game! We met up with some of our fellow WWD ladies and watched Lexi Thompson for nine holes. The Kia Skybox on 18 also had some amazing food!
Speaking of food, the best places to go in Carlsbad...
Mexican- Las Olas
Pizza- Pizza Port
Big Menu & Beer- 83 Degrees
Coffee/Wine Bar- The Sleeping Tiger
Breakfast- Cafe Elysa
Midnight Snack- Senor Grubby's
All of these places are in the Village Faire, which is a five minute walk from the Best Western!
Although the hotel had a gym, I enjoyed running along the beach every morning! You can't beat this view!
Already wishing to go back! Until next time!
