Okay. I'll be quite frank. Downtown Reno is not my favorite place in the world...mainly because I find the casinos and hotels to be dirty, old, and just a less glamorous version of Las Vegas. Until now.
The Whitney Peak Hotel has changed the Downtown Reno lodging and entertainment scene. It's the first non-casino, non-smoking boutique hotel in Downtown Reno, and might just be one of the top 5 hotels I've ever stayed at.
This hotel is so trendy and perfect for millennials. They are huge advocates for art, music, and good food. Amazing local artwork and photos decorate the halls, concerts from reggae to country are hosted in their music hall, and they have a world class restaurant called Roundabout.
If the artwork, music, and dining weren't enough, they have the World Record Tallest Rock Climbling Wall attached to a building! Base Camp is a rock climbing gym which locals can also be members. I was able to climb the wall and successfully made it to the top! Of the beginner route that is. I was proud of myself though because I've only been rock climbing twice before and never made it to the top. This time I made it first try, no problem! Since I was super confident, I decided to try the next route but chickened out and came down before getting to the top. Regardless, I'm proud of myself and happy I did it. What a rush!
I was so thrilled with this hotel that I would consider coming back to Reno just to stay in this hotel! I can't wait to go back here for the Barracuda Championship and Hot August Nights! Next time you go to Reno or Tahoe area, make sure you do it right by staying at Whitney Peak Hotel.
